Wills and Small Estates When Money Is Tight

  • When Thursday, December 3, 2026 at 7:00 PM Coordinated Universal Time

  • Length 60 minutes

  • Where Online, via webinar

Not everyone in British Columbia can afford to have a lawyer or notary prepare their will or handle probate. And when someone dies leaving only a small estate, such as a bank account and a few bills, it can be hard to know what you actually need to do. There are great low-cost and no-cost options out there. You just have to know where to look and how to get started.

On Thursday, December 3 at noon, two BC lawyers will walk you through budget-friendly tools, strategies and resources for settling a small estate or making a will without emptying your wallet in the process. They’ll cover low-cost wills, when you may not need probate at all, how to handle probate yourself, and what happens when the debts are bigger than the estate.

Bring your questions and your lunch. Get answers in plain language, with no judgment (and no expensive invoice).
