New to the website: Time off work

September 18, 2019

As workers, things come up in our lives that require us to take time away from our jobs. Whether it’s taking a sick day, a vacation, or time off to deal with family responsibilities, life intervenes.

We’ve published four new pages on the legal aspects of taking time off work:

One of the key factors affecting your rights to take time off work is whether you’re covered by the main law protecting workers in BC, the Employment Standards Act. With this in mind, we’ve published a new page to help you understand if you are covered by BC’s employment standards law.

Thanks to Vancouver lawyers Mary Thibodeau and Trevor Thomas for reviewing this content for accuracy.

This website explains in a general way the law that applies in British Columbia, Canada. The information is not intended as legal advice. The cases we refer to reflect real experiences, but names have been changed. See our full disclaimer.
