Q&A

As a temporary worker, can I qualify for the emergency benefits for workers?
I’m not a Canadian citizen and I’m on a work permit. I’m not sure if I can qualify for government benefits.

As a temporary worker, can I qualify for the emergency benefits for workers? - Answer

To be eligible for the Canada emergency response benefit, you must reside in Canada and have a valid social insurance number. Workers who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents — including temporary foreign workers and international students — may be eligible to receive the CERB benefit if they meet the other eligibility requirements. We explain the requirements for the CERB benefit.

If you qualify for CERB, you will be eligible to apply for the BC emergency benefit for workers.
