Law Week 2018

April 14, 2018

Law Week, an annual celebration of the signing of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, kicks off on April 14 with events in Nanaimo. Law Week is a great opportunity to learn about how law impacts everyday life, whether you're making a will, starting a job, or buying a home. Again this year, People's Law School is partnering with the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch to offer free classes for the public on these topics and many more, during the week of April 16 at locations throughout the province.

Other Law Week events will be happening throughout the week of April 16, including courtwatching opportunities, a students public speaking competition, and Dial-A-Lawyer Day on Saturday, April 21. From 10 am to 2 pm on Dial-A-Lawyer Day, anyone in BC can speak with a lawyer for free for up to 15 minutes on key areas of law.

This website explains in a general way the law that applies in British Columbia, Canada. The information is not intended as legal advice. The cases we refer to reflect real experiences, but names have been changed. See our full disclaimer.
